Sensory Friendly Clothing Brands (Including Uniforms!)

BlueSprig August 30, 2018

Back-to-school can be a struggle for those who are searching for sensory friendly clothing brands.

When your child goes back to school, you probably spend lots of time looking for tag-less polos, comfy dress pants, and shorts that aren’t too long or scratchy but aren’t too short either. School shopping is never easy with any child, but if your child is on the autism spectrum, the challenge can be even more daunting when talking about sensory friendly clothing brands. Here are a few clothing brands our community has approved as comfortable and good quality too!

  • Smart Knit Kids: They focus on seamless socks, underwear, and t-shirts for both boys and girls. Their patented seamless socks are perfect for children experiencing sensory processing differences, hypersensitivity, or who simply can’t stand annoying seams!
  • Independence Day Clothing: An adaptive clothing line for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. You’ll find everyday basics that are perfect for a school uniform or a Sunday stroll. Classic styles that are a little bit preppy and a little bit sporty – there’s something for the whole family here.
  • Target Adaptive: It’s not a brand in particular, but it’s a whole collection of adaptive clothing for the entire family. Hidden leg openings, flat seams, hidden abdominal access, and tag-free – everything. This entire section offers a huge variety of options for casual and dress occasions, plus uniforms too.
  • Billy Footwear: A stylish shoe brand that offers zip-up ease while still maintaining the look of a lace-up shoe. What’s not to love about a shoe that looks like everyone else’s but offers the comfort of knowing your child won’t have the trip hazard of shoelaces that come untied.

Whether your child wears a uniform or not, these are some of our favorite options for sensory friendly clothing retailers. Did we miss a brand? What are your favorites?
