Autism Professionals That Provide ABA Therapy Plans at Trumpet
Effective Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy takes a village. Specifically, it takes a village of highly trained autism professionals. At Trumpet Behavioral Health, we place a high priority on working with our partners in the field of autism care. We trust and value the input of experienced autism professionals when creating a child’s ABA therapy plan.
“Although we don’t employ speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists or medical doctors, collaborating with them closely is key to success,” says Amber Valentino, PsyD, BCBA-D™. As Trumpet’s chief clinical standards and research officer, Dr. Valentino sets a precedent of leadership and teamwork for our Board Certified Behavior Analysts® (BCBAs®) nationwide.
The Role as an Autism Professional
Trumpet BCBAs serve as the lead facilitators for a child’s entire team of autism professionals. As experts in the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA), we use distinct principles to understand the relationship between a child’s behavior and the events in their environment, and – most notably – how one can moderate the other.
Through ABA therapy, we can uncover the functions, or root reasons, behind a child’s behavior. This information is extremely useful when applied to all other therapies.
Specialized Therapy Professionals
Trumpet BCBAs network with a variety of autism professionals. This is valuable for a number of reasons. The shared learning and industry knowledge is one reason. It’s also important for us to know local autism professionals familiar with ABA therapy so that we can make sound recommendations to parents. We frequently work with:
- Speech language pathologists. SLPs specialize in language disorders, social and cognitive communication and physical hindrances to speech like swallowing.
- Occupational therapists. OTs help clients function better in routines, tasks, recall, roles and other everyday occupations of life.
- Physical therapists. PTs work to improve their clients’ mobility, pain and physical wellness.
Trumpet holds the expertise of these professionals in high regard. Their important work is always folded into each patient’s ABA therapy plan. After all, we’re all part of the same village.
